Textile vs Woven MOving Blanket
No one likes moving...but at some point life calls on us to relocate and it's time to pack up! The worst thing of all is when you have to something valuable without
There are two types of known blanket materials, textile (Denim/Cotton) and Woven, however which option you use depends on what you're moving. Let's start with Textile Blankets first since these are the types commonly used by uHaul.
Textile Blankets:
Essentially, textile blankets are made from recycled denim and cotton material. These blankets have a better padding than Woven blankets, however textile blankets are good at collecting dust. That being said, textile blankets are not the best material if you plan to move electronic because of the lint that can come off. Textile material has a better tolerance to stretching and taking a beating, so they are a suitable material for dragging heavy items across the floor.
Woven Blankets:
Woven blankets are a lot more fancier than textile blankets so they cost more. A single blanket goes for like $7-$10. Don't let the premium price fool you. Though woven blankets, they are a lot more delicate in my opinion. They are VERY vulnerable to tearing and peeling...compared to the Textile Blankets. Because the blankets are sewn together, the seams will rip out when stretched. They do have a cleaner surface than the textile material blankets. For sure, the material does not leave a lot of lint over your items, so they are well suited for more delicate objects. I've used these blankets in the past when moving around finished furniture frames, and if the finish is not completely cured, the woven material soaks into the painted layer, rips apart, and sticks into the paint layer. So definitely be cautious of what you're transporting when using woven blankets.
